Traffic Fine Information
It takes approximately 10 working days from the time a citation is issued until the court receives it from the issuing agency and processes it. If the address on your citation is correct, you should receive a courtesy notice in the mail stating the amount of your fine. The courtesy notice will list your options so that you may take care of your citation in person, by mail, on-line using this website by going to the home page and selecting traffic tickets or over the telephone using our automated system by dialing (530) 822-3307. Traffic Division staff cannot quote fine information over the telephone unless we have the original citation from the issuing agency. If the address on your citation is not correct, and you do not receive a courtesy notice, you will need to contact the court after 10 working days to inquire about your fine and options. REMEMBER, you are responsible for clearing your citation on or before the due date indicated at the bottom of your citation, whether or not you receive a courtesy notice. If you fail to clear your citation by the due date, additional penalties in the amount of $325 will be added without further notice.
Traffic citations may be paid by cash, check, money order, cashier’s check, debit card, Visa or MasterCard. An additional convenience fee will be added for debit or credit card transactions.
You may request a payment plan on your citation by coming to the Traffic Division and completing the necessary paperwork. A processing fee of $35 will be added to the total fine. In addition, a down payment of 10% to 25% of the total fine will be due at the time the payment plan is established. If you reside out of the area you may contact the Accounting Division at (530) 822-3301 to discuss payment plan options and to request paperwork be mailed.
If you need more time to pay, please contact the court at (530) 822-3303.
