Red Light Camera Citations:
About Red Light Camera Citations
Citations issued by automated enforcement systems (red light cameras) are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the incident. The citations are issued by the Yuba City Police Department and mailed within 15 days of the incident to the address provided by DMV. If you are the owner of the vehicle and were not driving at the time the citation was issued, see below.
Courtesy Notice
When you receive your copy of the citation from the law enforcement agency it will include an appearance date. The court also receives a copy of your citation and will send a courtesy notice to the address on the citation. This courtesy notice contains the same appearance information as well as the amount of bail you can forfeit to resolve the case without appearing. Note that the appearance date is not your trial date, if you choose to contest the citation. Other important information, including pleas of not guilty and traffic school information, is included on the courtesy notice from the court.
You must appear or contact the court by the date on your citation. Failure to appear or contact the court will result in additional penalties being added to your case.
If You Were Not The Driver
A picture of the person driving the vehicle at the time the citation was issued appears on the citation you receive from the law enforcement agency. If you were not the driver, complete the appropriate section on the citation and mail it immediately to the address on the citation. The agency will contact the court regarding your information. If you fail to complete the required information and return it to the address on the citation or do not appear or contact the court by your assigned date, additional penalties will be added to your case and your driver's license will be suspended.
