Information for the Disabled

If you have business at the Courthouse and require accommodations because of a disability, please contact the Court at (530) 822-3309. The Court requires notification in advance in order to provide certain accommodations, such as a sign language interpreter. Please contact the Court as soon as possible to insure the availability of the accommodation you need.

 

Each facility of the Sutter Superior Court is equipped with accommodations available for persons with disabilities and includes assistance for persons with hearing, visual, physical, and mental impairments.  Some in-court accommodations include:

  • elevators with Braille lettering
  • wheelchair accessible restrooms
  • wheelchair accessible drinking fountains
  • the Court welcomes service animals at all facilities

Accommodations that require a five-day notice are (see California Rule of Court 1.100).  Please note: We may be unable to accommodate an untimely request.

  • assistive listening devices
  • American Sign Language interpreters

If you require an accommodation not listed above, you may call the Court at 530-822-3309 to discuss your specific needs.  All attempts will be made to provide you with a reasonable accommodation.

 

How to Request an Accommodation

You may request an accommodation by filling out a Request for Accommodation (form MC410).  Follow the link to download the form, or you can obtain the form at any of our court facilities. Submit the completed form to the Court’s Executive Office at 446 Second Street, Yuba City or FAX to 530-822-3509. Requests will also be accepted by telephone.  When making a telephone request, please have the following information readily available:

  • name and address of person requiring the accommodation
  • name of the court facility where the accommodation is needed
  • case name
  • type of proceeding (civil, criminal, juvenile, family law and probate)
  • date the accommodation is needed
  • impairment necessitating accommodation
  • type of accommodation
